The potatoes have finally sprouted! Now that they've shown up, every single thing I planted has emerged. I even spotted the first strawberry of the season. Unfortunately, something I didn't plant has also come up--mushrooms. This means the soil is too wet. Now that all the seeds have sprouted, the water can be cut back. I adjusted the controller so that it will water only once a day for five minutes. I also thinned the beets so they're 4" apart and thinned the carrots to 3" apart. In total, I spent about 10 minutes in the garden this week--most of them pulling mushrooms--yuck!
By the way, remember those radish sprouts that I slipped in our family's salad last week? Well, everyone ate their salad and no one even noticed the sprouts-not even my picky son!
