Dare We Say "Spring"??

Posted: 3/1/2010 4:55 PM

No doubt this is a bit premature. But we're starting to see some signs of Spring. Our yard has small lavender flowers that pop up at the earliest point in the year. The yard was covered in them yesterday. So gardens can't be far behind!

If you're thinking of fresh veggies and the local farmer's markets aren't yet open, give some thought to growing your own. Even if you live in a very tight spot, our raised bed gardens from Backyard Botanical let you grow everything you want in a very small space with full control over soil, nutrients, and even critters.

GardenThe Oasis (shown at right) is 8' x 8'. The beds are 14" deep and sit about 8" off the ground. So the only weeds you get are the ones that fall in there. And the soil is as good as you make it. We even have some highly nutritious soil for you in case you don't want to mix your own. Moisture control? An automatic watering timer is included as well as some soaker hose.

So all you have to do is figure our what veggies you want, and get them going. No more excuses about space, dirt as hard as titanium, or never being home to water. Before long you'll be adding fresh peas, tomatoes, onions, radishes and herbs to your favorite cuisine. The kids will think you're vying for a spot on food tv!
